Genuine credentials should be foundational to the credibility of any expert witness.  An expert witness is defined as one who has knowledge beyond that of an ordinary person and often gives testimony to understand or interpret an issue requiring a specific expertise. But…are an expert’s credentials always authentic? A background investigation of one expert revealed tainted qualifications. Chris Reynolds, a licensed private investigator since 1979, is one of the youngest to ever acquire a PI license in California. He started working for a civil & criminal litigation firm at age 17 & since 1980 has owned and operated Chris Reynolds Investigations. Chris and his investigation of a pathology expert were recently featured on PBS Frontline.

Chris is serving his 2nd term as President of the CA Assoc of Licensed Investigators, the largest association of its type in the world. He is an Investigator of the Year award recipient & has served on its Board of Directors & in other leadership positions for several years. He holds memberships in the National Assoc of Criminal Defense Investigators (NACDL), CA Attorneys for Criminal Justice (CACJ), Defense Investigators Assoc (DIA), & the National Council of Investigation & Security Services (NCISS), a 36-year-old association representing private investigators & security professionals before the U.S. Congress and governmental agencies.

Albany, New York elder abuse investigative specialist Jamie Richardson says of patients in nursing homes, “The physical and mental frailty of many nursing home residents increase their vulnerability and lessens the chance that abuse will be reported and remedied . . . from over medication to physical and sexual assault and neglect leading to decubitus ulcers and even death, these complex and challenging cases often go undetected.’ Do you have a loved one in a nursing home or know someone who does? Are you concerned about their welfare? Do they get the proper care? Jamie Richardson along with Carole Herman, the founder of grass roots elder abuse advocacy non-profit aptly named, Foundation Aiding The Elderly (FATE) will discuss how to recognize the signs of maltreatment and what to do when it is identified.

Carole HermanA Successful software marketing entrepreneur whose aunt died from neglect and abuse in a local nursing home, Carole Herman organized a grass-roots elder abuse advocacy in 1982 named Foundation Aiding The Elderly (FATE) in Sacramento, CA, where she is president and Board Chair. FATE assists those who have friends and relatives in long-term care facilities with suspected abuse, neglect and civil rights violations and often initiates action on serious allegations. She works closely with federal and state regulatory agencies and with attorneys representing victims of maltreatment.  A recipient of awards for her efforts, Herman has served on several state boards, the most recent the Sacramento County Adult & Aging Commission, and has participated legislative and oversight hearings. She is a popular speaker on the aging, has been the subject of a number of news and magazine article, including Family Circle, and has appeared on notable TV shows such as Geraldo and Sally Jessy Rafael.

Jamie RichardsonA  licensed private investigator from Albany, New York, Jamie Richardson has developed, through his training and experience, a specialty in investigating alleged abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of aging and vulnerable adults. Richardson has conducted numerous investigations of abuse and maltreatment in nursing home and aging care settings. A former United States Marine, he is the founder and owner of Mission Possible Investigatons (MPI). Prior to founding  MPI, Richardson worked for the Bost Inc. as a Quality Assurance Investigator and the Florida Department of Children and Families as Adult Protective Investigator.

Keith RosenthalKeith Rosenthal’s interest in photography began at the age 10. He now has more than 40 years of accreditation as a professional photographer.

Keith studied under the man known as the dean of photographers for Look magazine, Earl Theisen. He recently earned Professional Photographic Certification Commission’s Certified Evidence Photographer designation after meeting rigorous requirements measuring his technical skills. He is one of less than 50 photographers worldwide to earn this designation. Keith designs & builds specialized equipment and pushes his cameras, lenses, and computer programs to achieve maximum results.  

Keith’s long lists of credentials include photographing many Fortune 500 companies. He was the “Artist in Residence” for the San Francisco Giants ballpark documenting the three-year plus construction and was also the Transamerica Senior PGA Golf Championship’s official photographer for their 14-year duration where he photographed the tournament & all tournament events.
