Some people say that you either have ethics or you don’t. Others say ethics are situational and are judged within their context. Even others say that ethics and the application to a moral compass can be learned. What is it that you say? Does it depend on the situation or does it depend on a strict code of conduct. You can imagine that in the context of an investigation, the issue of conflicts of interest, moral values, and the presence or absence of an ethical belief system might arise often. Confronting these questions and many more is author Kitty Hailey, the writer of the only codification of ethics for private investigators, The Code of Professional Conduct; Standards and Ethics for the Investigative Profession.
