Israeli based Jacob Lapid has tales of intrigue to tell. Based in Israel, Jacob Lapid specializes in complex, cross-jurisdictional and dangerous investigative assignments. He owns Lapidim Projects & conducts investigations in North America, the UK, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, Central Asia, Middle Eastern countries and maintains an office in Atlanta, GA. The Lapidim team is 20 strong; all have military/secret service/ intelligence training & specialized skills.
Jacob was decorated in the 1973 Israeli Yom Kippur War, a heroic young tank gunner during a pivotal battle. He was promoted to Colonel, later to Tank Brigade Commander, and finally assigned to the Israeli Intelligence Unit.
He has degrees in Architecture, Economics & Administration Leadership. Jacob is an accomplished artist and his paintings describe battles from his experience & are exhibited at the famous Military Museum, Latrun, Israel. Jacob concludes the process of painting and investigation involves a similar process, putting pieces together until the final picture immerges.

MEET SHERIFF JOE ARPAIO

The media calls him “America’s Toughest Sheriff” and he runs the nation’s 3rd largest Sheriff’s office located in Maricopa, Arizona. It is none other than Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Sheriff Arpaio has introduced many innovative and controversial practices including pink underwear and pink handcuffs for inmates, inmate selective service registration and volunteer organ donation, the infamous tent city, and volunteer chain gangs. Incorporating the community into his policing practices, he has expanded Maricopa County civilian posse to include involvement in all sorts of traditional police duties such as search & rescue, prisoner transport and traffic control along with others. Co-hosting this week’s program is private investigator and immediate past president of the California Association of Licensed Investigators, Jim Zimmer. Tune in to hear what Sheriff Arpaio has to say that promises to be both educational and entertaining.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio
Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been the top cop of the Sheriff’s office of Arizona’s Maricopa County for almost 18 years. Following his service in the US Army and 5 years as a police officer in Washington DC and Las Vegas, Sheriff Arpaio became a federal narcotics agent and built a reputation for fighting crime and drug trafficking around the world. He infiltrated drug organizations from Turkey to the Middle East to Mexico, Central, and South America to cities around the U.S. His reputation as a tough lawman, along with his expertise and many successes, led him to top management positions with the US Drug Enforcement Administration, retiring as head of Arizona’s DEA office in 1992.
Sheriff Arpaio was elected as Maricopa County Sheriff in 1993 and his innovative practices have since become legend. No one in the history of Arizona has been elected to a third 3-year term. Elected once again in 2008, Sheriff Arpaio is serving an unprecedented 5th term and enjoys an 85% public approval rating.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Jim was a Pennsylvania State University Dean’s List graduate. He is a Certified Professional Investigator, a two-term Past President of the California Assoc of Licensed Investigators, the largest association of its kind in the world; a Past President and Advisory Board member of the Probation Community Action Assoc, a group that develops and funds programs for at-risk youth and needy families; 2nd VP for the National Council of Investigation and Security Services and is a member of the CA Restaurant Association and the National Assoc of Legal Investigators.

The Enemy Within: Detecting & Investigating Employee Fraud

Employee dishonesty and fraud has its cost. Whether goods or services are provided, successful employers recognize that employee fraud is one of the most expensive and harmful challenges they face, one that often cripples a company’s financial resources. During this session, particulars will be offered to assist in identifying suspicious circumstances surrounding these employee missteps as well as the positive steps an employer can take to either thwart or prevent this crime.
Eugene Ferraro, Board Certified in Security Management and Human Resources Management and a renowned Certified Fraud Examiner will provide a provocative look at this problem and means by which modern investigators confront it. He will reveal how forensic fraud examination, interviewing and covert surveillance are used to detect fraud and confront it when found. He will also discuss the legal aspects of investigating fraud and the privacy rights of those who commit it.

Eugene Ferraro, a specialist in investigating employee dishonesty, substance abuse and workplace criminal activity, has conducted thousands of investigations for employers. A former military pilot, intelligence officer and a graduate of the Naval Justice School, Ferraro holds a Bachelors degree from Florida Institute of Technology. He authored Undercover Investigations in the Workplace, a university and law enforcement agency textbook, and has just completed his 8th book entitled Investigations in the Workplace.
Ferraro is ASIS International Security Management board certified (CPP), has served as Chair of its Workplace Substance Abuse Council and was recently recognized with ASIS Presidential Award of Merit. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a faculty member for Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and holds a Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) designation. He is currently the president of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services (NCISS).
